HOW TO: Get Jason Calacanis to Comment on Your Blog

Jason Calacanis
Jason Roberts blogs about Jason Calacanis’ Linkbait and appears to follow his rules.

Breaking All the Rules

Yes, Jason Calacanis sold a weblog network for north of $25 million. His blog is read by thousands.

Why do you think he will actually link to you?

If you’ve been subscribed to his blog for a while, you’ll notice that he rarely links out to random bloggers that are blogging about him.

Getting Jason Calacanis to Comment on Your Blog

This is easy. It’s true that he does subscribe to his technorati egofeed, etc.

Just post an inflammatory remark about him and within 24-48 hours he will likely appear at your blog to post a snarky comment right back atcha!

He’s a cool dude like that.

Linking to you though? Don’t hold your breath.

Testing the Theory…

True story (or is it?):

Jason Calacanis was at an industry conference… As the valet pulled up to the hotel with his car, instead of tipping the man, Jason whipped out his business card and signed it.

Jason said to the valet,

That’s worth at least $75 on eBay.

True story, or so I hear. :)

Great to hear your thoughts on Calacanis’ link bait. Funny anecdote as well, yet strangely familiar… :)
Actually, the more I consider it, the more I think I’ll be happy to just get a comment on my blog from Jason. I don’t want to feed the ego any more than necessary but after all the hype I feel like a link back would be the blogging equivalent of a guest spot on the Oprah show.

Great blog btw, I’ve added to my daily reads.

Jason Roberts - for a second, I thought it was the Calacanis who had dropped by! He hasn’t appeared yet, but I bet he will!

    You’re right re: Oprah.

I think the same thing when female friends I know are going through a rough period in their life, and one of them always suggest “You should write Oprah.”

Sure, Oprah can solve all your problems with a wave of her finger… but she probably gets 100,000 people a year writing her, and answers maybe 10-20 of their prayers. (or so I would guess…)

Haha, Yeah after I posted that I thought about the name confusion :)
I think after all this link bait business, Calacanis (like Oprah) might need his own team of producers to sift through the incoming pings.
