Here are a few questions I get asked a lot, or that you might want to know…

What’s with the name? Are you A) Indian, B) obviously a chick, right, C) Maybe Irish, or a black female?

D. None of the above. I’m a male caucasian who was born in St. Louis, Missouri to two Irish-American parents (with a little bit of Swede/Nordic in there).

They were hippies, who probably smoked a bit too much dope in their day. So when it came time to name me, they gave me the name Shanti Ananda Braford.

Shanti means peace, and Ananda means spiritual bliss (or something like that), both in Sanskrit/Hindi.

They saw the names posted on their yoga teacher’s wall one day.

Sorry for the long elaboration; As you could guess, I get asked about it a lot. (or people simply assume I’m a chick! oops!)

Sometimes I go by Sean at the local Starbucks or at loud, noisy bars. Shhh - don’t tell!
